Laurie received a B.A. Degree in Asian History and Sociology from Wesleyan University in Connecticut, graduating magna cum laude and with honors. She later went on to get MA and Ph.D. Degrees in Applied Social Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago. She has taught business and management courses at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. Along with consulting with organizations, she has provided individual counseling for adults in career transitions for over 15 years.
