Career Assessment

Smart carrer planning begins with an assessment. Laurie's career assessment process is an intensive professional assessment, feedback and career planning process customized for individuals. It provides people with a cohesive, data-based, strategic career action plan that will facilitate both individual and organizational planning. People who develop concrete answers to the questions raised during this assessment process report being better able to pursue their true career goals:

Why Have A Career Assessment?

Research shows that people who are placed in jobs for which they are best suited to perform are more effective. What constitutes “best suited” includes an integration of skills, knowledge, experience, values and interests.

Unfortunately, many people start off their career in the right direction, but somewhere along the line, their path takes a turn. As they climb their career ladder, they find themselves in positions they are no longer “best suited” for.

For maximum career success and fulfillment, we need to be able to identify and pursue work assignments that provide:

• Contribution (impact)
• Meaning (legacy)
• Fit (alignment of work with core values and other life priorities)

A career assessment will help participants identify the optimal intersection of these three elements and pinpoint the core career requirements that should be intentionally pursued to maximize professional contribution and gratification.

What Can You Expect From A Career Assessment

How Does The Career Assessment Process Work?

Although the process is adjusted to fit each individual’s situation, there are five general steps in Laurie’s career assessment process that you can expect to experience:

Step 1: Collecting data that covers all relevant elements of your career, educational, and personal status and history

Step 2: Analyzing the data in order to uncover themes that differentiate real choices for moving forward. By identifying the themes, you are better able to see what and why, you may want ‘this’ and ‘not that’.

Step 3: Completing the strategic career action map which includes direction around:

(a)

Your individual preferences for job content, role, context, approach, and desired outcomes.

(b)

Your rationale for these choices.

(c)

Strategies for professional development.

(d)

A tactical plan for attaining your career goals.

Step 4: Where applicable, implementing a plan to optimize your current assignment to immediately increase job fulfillment and impact.
